Dreaming Dog Brewery

Hi everyone. Happy new year!! I hope 2018 brings you lots of health, wealth and great beer. So this past weekend I decided to go to a brewery called Dreaming Dog Brewery, it is a pretty new brewery in Elk Grove. For those of you who are not familiar with Elk Grove it is in Sacramento County. I was really excited to go to Dreaming Dog because they are pretty close to my house and they were going to have a food truck which was the Culinerdy Cruzer food truck.

I pretty much got ready and headed out to the brewery around 5 o’clock because that’s when the food truck would be arriving. I was really hungry and wanted to eat and try the beers. The brewery is located on W. Taron Drive off of Elk Grove Blvd.

I parked my car and walked up to the Culinerdy Cruzer.

I talked to the owner of the food truck, Chef  Keith, he was really awesome and offered to answer any questions about the menu.  I ordered the flaming balls which is flash fried brussel sprouts with cilantro, citrus aioli, spicy sauce and cotija cheese.  I also ordered a  “plain ass burger” with bacon.

I talked to Chef Keith about my blog and about some future projects that I’m working on for Beauty and Beer. He was  really nice and receptive and gave me some great advice. I  appreciate him taking the time to talk to me. You can tell he is very passionate about his food and is a nice person. I gave him some BeautyandBeer stickers. 🙂  I took my food into the brewery, set my food down at a table, and ordered a flight of beers.

I picked a great night to check out this brewery because the Legal Addiction Band was going to be playing.  Okay, now lets get to the beers! My flight had four beers. Beer Flight

1. German Weimaraner Lager (German-Style Lager) 5.5% ABV. I felt that this was a nice and easy drinking beer. Pale and light malty presence.

2. American Chesapeake Bay Retriever (Chessie)– (Pale Ale) 5.1% ABV. I felt that this was a classic pub style beer. It had a buttery smooth flavor. I enjoyed this while eating my burger. I think this is a good beer to pair with food.

3. English Bulldog IPA– (IPA) 6.2% ABV. I feel like this IPA was flat. It had  a malty caramel like flavor. But I needed it to be colder and have more carbonation.

4. American Bulldog Double IPA– (American Style West Coast IPA) 7.9% ABV.  This was malty and smooth. Not much hoppiness to it. I would not consider this a double IPA in my opinion.

My favorite beer was the German Weimaraner Lager. I feel that the beers need to be served a little colder. I felt like my IPA’s tasted a bit warm. Not super warm or anything, they were just room temperature. I believe that the owners serve their beer at this temperature on purpose.

The brewery is clean, and restrooms were very clean. They are kid and dog friendly. I like that they have a dog wall with pictures. The owners and employees were welcoming.  The band played some great hits!! The atmosphere was fun and positive.

I think this brewery has a different style then the other breweries in Elk Grove and I think that if they just served their beer a little colder it would be better. I look forward to tasting what else this brewery releases in the future. I would definitely go back. I encourage you to check them out for yourself.
