Hi everyone. Hope you all had an awesome holiday season. I recently, and by recently I mean yesterday; I went to check out Waterman Brewing Company. I have been wanting to go to this brewery for quite some time now. What was holding me back, was that they were making some changes to the brewery with construction and what not. I called my good friend Justin and he was ready to check this brewery out. We showed up and it was pretty busy. There was only one beertender, and I am sorry I did not catch her name. Although she was busy she greeted us and went over the beers on the board. There was ample seating and I just moved a couple chairs around so Justin could get comfortable. I ordered a flight and Justin had one beer. Before I go into what we drank let me just say I noticed a lot of people came in to fill up their growlers and there were a lot of beers that were “sold out”. That tells me they must be awesome beers. They had three DIPA’s on the board, along with a Kolsch which are “coming soon”.
Justin had an 8oz pour of the Super Citra Pale Ale.
My flight consisted of :
- Super Citra Pale Ale- (IPA) 6.9% ABV- I liked this smooth, piney forward IPA with citrus notes. When I checked into my Untappd app, it showed this beer to be considered a pale ale. ( In case you don’t know an IPA is an India Pale Ale and it is just a more hoppy style of beer with in the “Pale Ale” category) To me this tastes like an IPA. I called the brewery and the guy who answered the phone said it was an IPA. (Sorry I kind of went off on a little tangent, LOL)
- Tropical Haze IPA– (Hazy IPA) 5.8% ABV- Smooth, hoppy, citrus notes. It was refreshing.
- Old Towne Porter– (Porter-Imperial/Double) 6.9% ABV- Roasty, as in that coffee sort of taste, and thin. I was going to use light but that is not a good word to describe this beer. By thin I mean it is not heavy, but with full body flavor. Good Porter!
- Bald Ron’s Irish Red Ale – (Red Ale) 5.6% ABV- This beer has a funky smell to it. Very strong aroma. My Untappd app said this was an IPA but, taste wise I couldn’t really describe it. I know they were running out of this beer so it was its end. Not sure about this one. Would need to try it again.
Trivia is played on Tuesdays. I played just for fun. Everyone was engaged and might I add the the beertender made sure everyone was taken care of in between questions. She did great.
So while drinking these beers I got to try a new food truck, Smoke~n~Tacoz. They are a new food truck and there home has been Waterman Brewing. The service is great! Food was good! Justin had “The Porky” which is a pulled pork sandwich with a spicy slaw and I had the Hot Link Sandwich. Both sandwiches came with fries. I got to speak with Kenny and he smokes the meats himself and you could honestly tell that he is passionate about what he does. He even hooked us up with a “meat sampler” to taste!
Rene was taking orders and was just really kind and you can tell both of them are excited with their new venture. I had a great time eating and tasting these beers. Justin enjoyed himself too. Overall great experience. I would definitely go back, on a Wednesday night because I found out they have bingo. 🙂
