Hi! I hope to find you in good sprits. It has been a while hasn’t it? One thing about me is that I want things to go “as planned” and LIFE does not really cater to that. I am currently typing this on my new MacBook. Woohoo. My other one was on it’s final days.
Events leading up to my birthday celebration were pretty heart breaking. Family member’s health and my own heartache just put me in a dark place. But I have to learn I cannot control everything. I have to try to take things day by day. The last few weeks of me being 31 were pretty hard. Lot’s of anxiety. But life must go on. You cannot force someone to want to be with you, as much as you may want to be with them and cancer is a horrible thing. Such is life.Things I can’t control can be quite difficult for me because I like to plan. I was honestly going to do nothing for my birthday but some of my friends contacted me asking me what I was going to do. So I figured why not do something. So that Friday my brother came into to town to surprise me. Which honestly made me happy because we are really close and he is my rock and he may not know this but I really needed him. And surprise! He was here. That Saturday July 15th I told everyone via a Facebook event that we would start the night out at Fieldwork Brewing. One of my friends mentioned that the space was not that big for a big group. It is not super small. The space worked out just fine.
The first beer I had was the Orchard Street IPA 6.8%. If you have read my blogs you know I LOVE IPAs. This beer is juicy and when I asked the guy pouring the beer he said “it is juicy”. He was not lying. Definitely notes of peach and grapefruit. This is beer is great for a hot day or even to pair with brunch. Very citrusy and not heavy.
I also have to admit that I went around trying my friend’s beers lol. A couple of my friends got the Bean Machine – Big Mocha Brown 9.9% ABV. A brown ale that is very smooth. I tasted chocolatey coffee flavors. Tasty.
They serve food here. I got the grilled cheese, I split it with my sister in law. It was very good and cheesy. Super chill atmosphere, people were playing games. It was a really hot night so being inside was nice and cool. We were able to sit down and play Jenga.
The next beer I tried was OverRipe! IPA 6.5% ABV. This was also juicy as well. I tasted tropical notes and this beer smells good! Still hoppy. I could drink a lot of this. (Dangerous, LOL)
I did not take as many pictures as I wanted to. I had a great night, after Fieldwork we wandered to other spots in downtown Sacramento. None of us really took pictures. It was actually nice to get off of our cell phones. We all talked and laughed and enjoyed each other’s company. When times are tough it is good to have good friends and good beer to make things better. I look forward to see what “32” has in store for me. I have my moments where I think about quitting this blog but seeing people from all over the world clicking around here motivates me.
I definitely want to go back to Fieldwork and get a flight of beers because I was very impressed with their beers! I recommend you check them out! Here are some of the photos I did manage to take.
And this is how I ended the night.
